I just realized something.  Why doesn't game core consider selling addon packs that have objects?  Like guns, characters, etc.  I'm disappointed that they took the gun away that was in beyond virtual.  I'd buy it.

what is missing??? let me think.... people who work and communicate about their game engine.

But is there a captain on board or do Gamecore became a ghost ship??

Ps: i agree with you Architex about addon and I will add that selling scripts or fully functional "game type framework" is a better idea to attract people than just a basic static objects library.

Anymore I only go on the site to see if its been updated. I've moved to unity because they have activity. Soon we may look into UDK or CryEngine 3. As both have a free sdk (And alot of our games are free since were still in college)

I'd really like to see a Gamecore 3 because Gamecore was the first 3D engine I ever used. Before that it was MMF2 (Which also needs to be updated).

I guess all of us are doing the same: check now and then if an update is available and look for other options. I'm testing Gamestart3D, it's in Beta but I like the editor.

Definitely, If this ends up being updated, I won't mind giving it another chance. If nothing else for hobby projects. Either way this engine doesn't deserve to die like this cause right before the silence, it was teeming with energy. It had a very interesting trailer, Lots of newer features and the like.

If it goes the other way, then they should release all the source code under the same license as Linux. That way, us, the community can better the engine.

Looks like it's game over for GameCore really -> http://www.gamecore3d.com/forums/index.php/topic,929.0.html

GameStart looks quite nice. I've checked out other engines and settled on Torque 3D myself.

Then I guess the real joke is Helios. I wish the CEO of helios (The very person who said v3 was coming soon over a year ago) would wake up and see that this is a real gem here. A great engine for small teams that's easy enough that if someone on the team is behind. They can get up to speed in a few hours.

Obviously this can quite a few ways and Obviously the final nail in the coffin will be once the site is taken offline.

However I'll be hopeful that either another company buys the rights to GameCore (and actually does something with it) , or that they release the source code under GPL licensing. What do you guys think?

Maybe Helios is actually a company bought by another engine to actually hold this engine because they so to much potential Smiley Speculations only of course. But it is quite strange that they don't seem to have any representative in forums any more. They do not in any way try to keep things alive by posting something.

Like all other I really hope for the best and that they get their act together

hi all,
I do not want to be bad language but i don't if you guys had done searches on the internet about metha's CEO (the parent company of Helios), it's quite a large scope of activites for a compagny: transport, engineering, construction, music, publishing (http://www.heliosentertainment.com/) and 3d engine.
I think (bad language maybe Roll Eyes ) even if he use it for transport/contruction/engineering visualization (http://mehtax.com/), Gamecore was his new toy but, the 'game creation aspect' is not fun anymore.

I don't want to be rude but if he want to stop the development, Helios should say it clearly. Release the source code, even if i don't believe it will do it, may be a solution to keep alive this good engine.

Personally, I continue to develop my game with gamecore. I prefer to polish my gameplay with a script language that I know before, eventually, convert it on another engine

True as that may be, read gek's post about him getting laid off. At the moment it is unclear if anyone is even employed for the engine.

I didn't do my research about the company because at the end of the day, its still their product, just cause they get bored with it doesn't mean they should abandon it along with all the customers.

Example: I may not play minecraft as often as I used to, but I always keep my texture packs up to date. That way people who want to use my packs after an update can.

Here at 3D Game Design we keep in close contact with the GameCore developers as we use the engine for our Starterkit and online game design courses.  Our understanding is that they are currently re-organizing but fully intend to keep supporting the engine. We have an active development program for GameCore compatible assets and scripts and see no reason to change to another game engines at this time ... Ray Smith www.3dgamedesign.co.uk

so wait and see...
(Nevertheless, whatever the internal problems, it costs nothing to warn its customers.)

Nice to have a bit of reassurance from Ray.  I DID send a pm to the CEO (Very polite, no flame that sort of thing) asking what was going on, but no dice.  Then again he only used that account once or twice on these forums so he may not have gotten notified. Plus, I understand he's probably busy.
