I tried the sample in the GC download and I tried the "Island" scene and tried moving around in both. My character/player walks around like a crippled man.
I opened up my Windows Task Manager and Resource Monitor and it shows 1Gb of Memory usage and 35% CPU.
I turned OFF everything exceot the game tutorial and even disconnected from Internet and shut off Wi-Fi on Laptop.
I have an AMD Turion 1.6Ghz CPU with 2Gb  RAM.
I have played many different things on this including Flight Simulator games and have not had LAG like this.
Is there a Minimum Requirements for using the GC engine and playing anything from it.

You have to tick of the sky

Go to environment and sky system and tick it of. Because it makes almost everything in scene use its shadows. It is very unoptimized...but good looking. Try that first

and by default, post-processing are on in the Island level. Desactivate them : environment panel, post-processing. It may help.

Sold my Toshiba and HP this week and bought another HP with a little more "guts"

AMD Phenom II with N870 Triple-Core Processor  2.3Ghz
6GB RAM 64 bit Windows 7
1GB Video RAM on ATI Radeon dedicated Video
740GB HDD

Hope it is the last Laptop I have to buy for a while

FYI  the FlightSim was prior to "X" and I bought "X" but never loaded it on the Toshiba
HP had a 1.6Ghz processor
the Toshiba had a 2.3Ghz with 4GB RAM

Anyway, the new system works well
