Hi all,

Each time I try to run the launcher it shows me the loading image, then gives a the following error:
Quote
Error: Access violation at 0x694010DB (tried to read from 0x00000008), program terminated.
... and then closes. Is this some graphics problem, or what? My computer isn't particularly high-end so I wouldn't be surprised if it couldn't quite handle the graphics.

I would guess it is because of some old crappy files that came with the installer. Try to search for all .bvo files and delete them. These are autogenerated so don't worry, gamecore will make new ones if you enter succesfully

Hmm, okay I tried deleting all .bvo files but it's still not starting. I also tried getting rid of .bvj files which I saw mentioned in another thread but it's all the same error message. Are these files only found in the GameCore installation directory? Or are there some hidden away elsewhere which I overlooked?

Are you using the newest version of the editor (2.5.4)?

Did you install the editor in its default directory?

Yep, it's the 2.5.4 installer.

I changed the installation directory from drive C to drive G (my drive C is a 10gb partition which I only use to run my OS in case my computer crashes and I need to format it). Other than that I let it install in G:\GameCore. Can this be the cause of the problem?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with launching Game Core version 2.5.4

It seems I am getting the same message as Fulcrumb, only I'm not sure how to follow up on Pixel_legolas advice about the .Bvo files.

This may be the problem, however it may also be something else.

Did you eventually fix it Fulcrumb?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help us with this matter.

yours sincerly Greg.

Well bvo and bvj files are created inside your game folder. They are cache files so gamecore will load certain things faster. The problem is that sometimes these cache files, I guess, are linked to something that don't exist anymore or something similar. It is a good practice then to delete, at least to see if you get rid of some errors.

There could also be some files in the gamecore install. I hope you can get it to work, just post your progress here once you tried.

You could also delete all *.bvo files in windows

Just press windows button + F and you will enter the file finder. Type *.bvo and it will search for all bvo files on the computer. Just delete them after it is done

Thanks for the reply Pixel,

Had no problem deleting the files (both *.bvo and *.bvj) thanks to your advice, however the same error still

pops up. Everything else you mentioned to Fulcrumb I've checked as well. All appears to be ok.

Don't suppose you have any more suggestions?

I've got no idea what the problem could possibly be!

Ps. I'll try and reply you as quickly as possible

regards Greg

I think I had some problem when not having it installed to C:

Is it possible for you to enlarge c: a little to test? Use partition magic or something to just slide it bigger Smiley

In reply Pixel,

Yes I should've mentioned before it has been getting downloaded onto C:/ each time I've tried to re install it

with the result the same thing happens.

Guess I'll just have to keep loooking around for any more info about this problem, and hopefully something

comes up which will fix it.

In the meantime if you happen to come with anything please let us know. I'll keep checking into the forum on

and off to see if there is any new replys.

Once again I'm grateful for your assistance Pixel

hm, I have no clue. What system do you have? Are you running in admin mode? Updated video drivers? I dont really touch gamecore so much now because it is so silent.

Have you sent a support ticket? I think the guys behind this engine use the support ticket system more than the forums.

hi greg,
you may try to change the default gamecore editor's config file and set engine to lower its capabilities.

go to your gamecore folder, then Editor folder and open config.cfg. Set the graphic driver to opengl and set "Enable shaders" to 0.

It should look like this:

Code:
Anisotropy 16
ShadowMapSize 1024
ShadowMapCount 2
GraphicsDriver OpenGL
EnableShaders 0
CameraMode 0
GameResolution 0
DepthOfField 0
StencilShadows 1
HDR 1
Language English
Skin Default
TextureLevel 1
Volume 0
GraphicsDetailLevel Medium

i hope this will help

Hi Lutin,
Thanks for the reply. I've managed to change the graphic driver but I cant find enable shaders in the code. This is what comes up.

GraphicsDriver OpenGL (changed this one ok)
SoundDriver Software

ScreenHeight 768
FullScreen 1
WindowBorder 1
ShowLauncher 1
Anisotropy 16
ShadowMapCount 1
ShadowMapSize 1024
PercentageCloserFiltering 0
VideoWidth 320
VideoHeight 240
VideoQuality 100
BitDepth 32
HDR 1
TextureLevel High
GraphicsDetailLevel High
AudioChannels 32
AudioFrequency 44100
