Given the latest news, we've been getting a lot of interest in purchasing the discounted GameCore 2.5 Pro version from existing and new users so I wanted to share what the upgrade path would be if you're to purchase GameCore 2.5 Pro.

Anyone that has already purchased or will purchase GameCore 2.5 Pro can upgrade to GameCore 3.0 for 50% off the retail value when it's available.  All minor point releases or bug fixes that happen in between will be free for those who purchased GameCore 2.5 Pro.

So the 2 scenarios are the following:

1. If you're an existing buyer/user of GameCore Indie or our previous engines and you qualify for 50% discount off GameCore 2.5 (i.e. $750), you can upgrade to GameCore 3.0 for 50% off also, so essentially you've paid for a full engine but with the benefit using the tools earlier and paying over time.

2. If you're a new buyer of GameCore you get 25% ($1125) and will be able to upgrade to GameCore 3.0 for 50% off that value.

Also, we've received several requests on extending the 50% discount off GameCore 2.5 Pro for previous purchasers of GameCore Indie/Pro and the 25% discount off for new purchasers of GameCore 2.5 Pro until the end of summer, so we've extended the offer to expire on September 1, 2010!

I have a question regarding upgrading, if this information is available elsewhere, please direct me to the topic. I've searched the forums and couldn't find what I've been looking for.

1. Is there an existing feature list for GC 3.0? Or at least and ETA to getting a feature list?
2. Has there been any discussion of yet again extending the timeline of the discount for previous buyers? As I understand it, I have until September 1st to make a decision. I'm not terribly concerned with 2.5 pro over indie, but 3.0 could be another story. If the upgrade price listed here includes future iphone and android versions, that would be a great selling point; especially when compared to other game engine offerings.

Thanks for any information or direction to other posts on the topic.

There's been no information regarding 3.0, what it'll feature or when it'll be released. The word discount is a bit confusing, you're not getting 3.0 any cheaper, you're paying the full price in 2 installments. So unless you particularly want a particular feature of 2.5 Pro now, you're not losing anything by waiting for 3.0's release and making a decision then.

Not to mention alot of companies, give UPDATES out for free. and at 1500 it should just have free updates. FL Studio for example. Free updates for life.

Gamecore just needs another business model.
The addon packs are a good start, but, You could have more of those, and have some sort of peer Asset Sales, (Like TurboSquid with Max)

Example:

One person or group of persons, create a set of addons for Gamecore and sell it through this site. then Helios could take 15% off the top. this would attract users to create more, as well as become another form of income from Gamecore for both the creator of the addon pack, and Helios. Just my thoughts.

Y'know, why dont you guys just sell individual features the customer can buy to put into his/her specific gamecore software ( like what 3d rad does ), dont you think you're revenue would go up a bit?  And at the same time make the customer happy?  And you guys should really re-consider making indie for free, because honestly, I feel like I want my money back now.  I feel ripped off.  

And on a side note, this forum is really dying out.  We need new life here, and the only way to do this is to come out with some new frickin' features around here.  It's like a ghost town.

I'm not happy paying extra for features, I like everything included in one price.

I would be willing to pay to learn though. If GC could team up with Vibe, Digital Tutors or someone and allow users to pay for high quality online courses to learn how to make games with the engine I think it might work. There's plenty of people out there who want to make games but don't know how. GC could get both income and a solid user base.
