Hey all, I'm not sure if this is where this goes but to my experience looking at scripts in games that DO have HUDs its sometimes done in the menu.lay or gsl....or something. in ANY case I want to know how to do the following.

Now again I'm making all my games from scratch while other students get fancy smancy templates to start from. so in the template they get.

? A Health Bar
? An Armor Bar (i don't absolutely need this but it would be nice)
? and an ammo number.

so I need to know:

? How to Set up an image to appear on screen on the "frame" or whatever you want to call it
? How to make animate and code a health bar and armor bar
? How to get variables (numbers) to appear on the screen and define font and positioning
? and anything else I'd need to know as far as how to do this

if anyone needs detailed files and such let me know.

also the player char (seeing as animating is a real pain so im using all their monster and player models and i think the player char has health and armor coded into it already) sorry im kind of a simpleton as far as coding goes. as I've said before I'm just a modeler haha. who's probably just bit off more than i can chew.

thanks alot in advance who even replies.

Easiest thing to do is to make your HUD in the Menu Editor http://www.gamecore3d.com/docs/editor-walkthrough/menu_editor

Then use a script to to change the what text is displayed on the HUD.  Scripting commands for the GUI... http://www.gamecore3d.com/docs/scripting-reference/gui

Basically, once you create the form, then you "GetControl" of the form via script and manipulate it how you see fit (usually copying a variable, such as health, to a String which is then displayed on the form).

Or you could be smart, shell out the pitiful amount of cash vibe2k asks for their course, and then this would happen....
Just saying. Going back to building my game now....

Yes, at the end of the course. You get access to a bunch of assets, upgrades to the Interactive Framework, more tutorials, etc.
It is free for the first 2 months, then about 10 bux a month after that.

Gotta agree with Steely Dane ... the course is definitely worth it !

You can certainly "do it all by yourself", but getting it all served up in bite-sized chunks is a lot easier and (IMHO) a lot more fun.

And I too am waiting for the "Master Course" ...  Smiley
