This is somewhat in the Tips and Tricks, but thought this would be more of a poll type posting of what software everyone uses for the process of game development in case there is something out there we have not heard of. Here is mine:

Engine: GameCore of course. Have Unity and 3DRad too, but can't remember the last time I even used them
2d Graphics: MS Paint and Serif PhotoPlus
Sound: Audacity
3d utility program: AccuTrans 3d www.micromouse.ca - use to swap around layers and quick uv maps
3d modeling: Hexagon 3d, I really like this program, hope someday they come out with a new version.
Complex uv mapping: Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro
3d animation (fbx): Running the Cinema 4d trial right now, jury is still out, seems  ok so far.

Kind of sucks to be using 4 different programs for 3d, but this seems to be the easiest workflow so far. Have never bothered to try 3ds max or maya, price tag is a bit too steep right now even if I did like the trial.

Engine: Gamecore. Never tried any other. Did some research, and got a little taste of it from the previous owner. Seemed like the right choice then, and still does.
2D Graphics: Photoshop, Paint. Tried Gimp once, but I was already familiar with Photoshop, so...
Sound: ProTools and various sound and effects modules both digital and hardware based (unless you met just for actual listening to, then it's just Realtek and a cheap 5.1 Logitech system, or my more expensive Sennheiser studio cans.
3D Utility Program: n/a.
3D Modeling: Lightwave 9.6 Modeler
Complex UV mapping: Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro
3D Animation: Lightwave 9.6 Layout

Additionally, I will be using Poser 5 for human character models, and am romancing purchasing ZBrush and 3D Coat in the near future.

HI all... this is the software I'm using:

Engine: 3dRad.
2D Graphics: Illustrator, Photoshop
Sound: Adobe Audition
3D Utility program: Okino Politrans
3D Modeling, Animation & UV mapping: 3dsMax.

Alternatively, you can use a free copy of GMax, that is almost like 3dsMax.

Hi folks ... here's my setup:

Engine: Gamecore and/or 3D GameStudio A7 Pro.  Also got a license for Torque, but never could warm up to that ... 3DGS and GC are my two viable options ... I'd drop 3DGS, but I love the IntenseX plugin and the Newton wrapper - nothing comparable is available for GC...
2D Graphics: Photoshop Elements, PaintShopPro
Sound: Audacity
3D Utility Program: AccuTrans, 3D Browser (incl. PolyCruncher)
3D Modeling: Lightwave 9.6 Modeler / ZBrush / 3D Coat
Complex UV mapping: Nothing yet ... looked at Ultimate Unwrap 3D ...
3D Animation: Lightwave 9.6 Layout / Fragmotion

Engine: Gamecore
2D Graphics: Photoshop, Illustrator
Sound: Vegas, Premiere
3D Modeling/Unwrapping/Animation: 3D Studio Max 9
3D Painting/NormalMapping: ZBrush

I know it's a pain in the ass to obtain, but if I was on an island and only had access to one program for the rest of my entire life, almost any version of MAX (8 and after) would be my choice by about a billion miles. It is the best thing that has ever graced my computer in all the years that I have ever been using them...which is nearly since they came out...definitely before 3D was ever invented. It's the only thing I enjoy doing more than playing video games...that's why I want to make them so badly. I'm starting to really hate working with ZBrush though. It just screws you over so badly if you accidentally do something out of exact sequence.
