I am currently trying to set up a skybox in gamecore, so in world editor i click on Environment / Background and select 'custom object', but no matter what i do, all i get is a white sky.

The object is a simple cube, faces pointing inward. tried obj and lwo format.

If i invert the normals, i see the background color, so it seems that the cube in general works, but the texture is not visible.

If i just use one of the predefined sky types, like cylinder, i can see the texture.

Tried different matierial settings with the obj file, including no material at all, just defining its name - always the same.

i remember having problem too. I think i needed to reload the scene or something. I also use a .opr file instead and change the size. It could be its to small/large. With opr you can also make the texture move with UV move

thanx,

tried different sizes, if it is too small, it is not showing up at all, so size does matter  Grin

but still no texture on it, no matter what i do.

what i noticed, if i reload the world, there is still the name of the custom object in the background dialog, but not the name of the texture, could this be a bug that it is just not saved?

i usually have to open the object as a normal object in editor so it aks you if you want to create an opr file. Then i just take away that object from the scene. then i open it in the object editor and set texture and everything there. I think you need to have both the object and texture inside the projects folder. now when you save the opr file it should load fine

it's definitely a good idea to make sure that you have loaded the object into the editor prior to applying it as a sky - this way you can make sure it's loading properly, setup the materials etc and THEN load it in as a background / sky.

other than making sure the faces are pointing inwards, shouldn't be too much too it though.  I'll do a quick test and see.
