From GameCore Admin:

Update - Please Note that the issues that are discussed in this thread have been resolved - please read the ENTIRE THREAD before commenting / starting other threads

Hi GC Team

GZ for release Gamecore 2.0, i have read all new features and i think for indie developers is this a joke.

- Max File Export (Game) 200MB (one gamelevel by me have 162MB with textures,Geometry and sounds)
- all nice features only Pro version
- Docs not completely

Unity3D Indie for Windows have mutch more features
the new Toque3D comes next time
Leadwerks 2.0 ("pointlights with CubeShadowmap") missing feature in GC2.0

"Mike bether is you change the maketing managment about Gamecore2.0, you can sell more copies when you unlock features from inde version, but that is my opinion"

I hope you think about this again^^

My 2 cents are:

- Move HDR into the indie version, the rest of the post processing are Pro. This may already be true, not sure as I have not downloaded yet. The advantage is in the showoff board, users will be posting pictures of better looking games and it will be self fulfilling to help sell more copies of GC when the casual user looking at game engines stops by.

- Increase the max exported game size, maybe 400 or 500 meg or no size limit on indie. I am at 1.4 Gig now, so I have to move.

- The big one... offer custom splash screen control on the Pro version. This alone would sell me. Still keep GC logo if you have to, but maybe smaller corner version of the splash screen. This keeps confusion down of where players go for support if they have trouble.

- If you can, post your price on the order page in US dollars. I believe its 'looks like' less $ that way if its possible for your store setup.

- Run a sale of some sort. On my dyno website, I always have some sort of sale going on. The dollar gain from additional buyers always exceeds the little bit I lose per unit sale. As soon as I get enough content for my game, I will be adding sales and upgrades (additional vehicle packs, motorcycles,...). Every single time I send a mass email to my dyno users with a upgrade sale offer, there are always buyers. (PS - this is more into web marketing, but I did test of the exact same software combo, called on the budget pack, one the pro pack, and the pro pack outsold the budget 4:1 even though it was the exact software combos and exact price). This was 7000 emails, so a good sample size. I should get into web marketing, but its boring  Grin - programming is so much more fun - lol

I agree that the features of the indie version is a bit disapoiting...

200mg for exporting... Ok... I already have 120mg in one level

Missing templates...  For an engine that tries to be templates  and WYSWYG based - or at least pretend to be, I don't see what's the point.

No HDR... Come on...

And where is the water shader?

So, I don't want to be rude, but with these range of price for this kind of features, I would have keept my cents for another engine like Shiva3d or C4.

In that case may be its not worth me bothering about not being able to input my username and password for GameCore 2, $150 + vat down the drain oh well back to 3DRAD 6.0

Anyway what happened to my Silver Indie Beyond Virtual that I originally purchased back in 08/07/2006  ?

Yeah, I kind of feel mislead.

When I ponied up the dough for GC, I was under the impression that the limits on the Indie liscense were 1. you / your company couldn't make more than $xxx, xxx a year.  2.  You had to use the GC splash screen.  3.  You would not be offered extended support (i.e. gekido writing scripts for you, custom enhancements, etc).

I thought, other than the before mentioned, the indie version was supposed to have everything the pro version had.  Considering GC was made by indies, you'd think they'd have a little more heart.

i don't think the forum is a good place for such a question. you sould try to contact support. i am sure it's a stressful time right now for the gamecore team and mistakes can happen.

Beyond Virtual is no longer supported.  You received a free upgrade to GameCore when we discontinued Beyond Virtual.  BV is no longer available or supported.

The water shader is indeed included. Go to "Object Surfaces" then click on the surface you want to edit, or select it from the list. Click the "Load from Template" button and select one of the surface templates from the "water" directory.

We are still fine-tuning what limitations will be in each version and will take your comments into consideration. We want to do what we can to make everyone happy who has been supporting us until now.

Same here, will most probably start using 3DGS again (mostly because of the 200 MB limit in GC Indie). Feel a bit betrayed  Cry
