If I run my game from the menu editor, or if I make alterations and run it several times in a row, eventually the game starts with a script error saying it's out of texture memory and my background screen is blank. The game still loads and runs fine, but it's very consistant.

I've been thinking that it's me and my materials overloading the system as it's up to about 160MB of memory usage right now. It was near 200 and things looked good, but it was getting laggy. I now have the majority of my objects with literally no texture at all, just color and specular. Some of them look like crap now. I still keep running out of texture memory after a while though.

is there a leak?

Have to be something like a leak.....it's strange just because you run your projects several times in a raw..hmmm!.As long as your drivers are up to date and what not...you shouldn't get that out of memory warning.Unless this warning is something new?,....I am curious to know what's causing the warning as well.I run so many objects in one scene on a daily basis several times...never get that warning because of it. Cool

there may be an issue switching between the menu editor and game - basically when you switch to the menu editor, all of your menu graphics and layouts are parsed / loaded fresh, so if something isn't being cleared properly, it might result in a leak.

is it possible to document the exact steps that you are taking so that I can get the programmers to look into this further?

ie:
- open game editor, open project
- switch to menu editor
- test game
- back to menu editor
etc

if we can document the steps that you are taking, we have a couple of larger projects with complicated menu layouts that should be able to reproduce this for us internally.

thanx

Ok, let me try to faithfully reproduce it. I've been avoiding it so let me go back. I'll write it up soon.

Sorry I never updated this thread but the truth is I was never able to recreate the problem faithfully again. I did, however, see it a few times again during the last menu editor but like you say, it appears to be fixed now.
